I can remember river rafting
in Mengdong
River just like it was yesterday. We all got into a van and took a very long,
windy road to our destination. It was raining when we got to the Mengdong. My
mom was worried that the rafting trip was going to be very cold, so she when
and rented some rubber suits for her and my dad. She offered to rent us some
but us kids thought that we could handle the cold but we were wrong!
While
we were floating down the river it started to rain even harder. I started to
get cold then very cold. Luckily my mom somehow new that we would need some
ponchos so she bought some cheap plastic ones before we left. Everett, Alta,
and I all had our ponchos on. However, the suits were hardly useful since there
were these guys in boats who would spray ice-cold
water down our shirt, with water guns. It was already super cold outside;
everyone was shivering from the cold rain. Around the next corner there was
another guy with a water gun, nooo! He also hosed us down with the cold river
water. We had water guns too so we shot them back, and we had a crazy water war
with one of these guys. We felt bad after learning that the guys was just
trying to sell us something.
As
we continued down the river we saw more people trying to sell stuff to us even
some small restaurants on the riversides.
While
floating farther down the river we saw a waterfall and my dad insisted that we
go under it. We all said no! But we still went under the ice-cold water.
There
weren’t any rapids on the trip only really small ones but there was this giant waterfall
near the end of our journey down the river. It was very green around it the
waterfall spread its self out across the front of the cliff. Even though we
couldn’t see the waterfall as we went on we could still hear it entering the
water.
I
rushed out of the raft because I was so freezing cold and wet. I ran up the
stairs dried with a towel off and changed into warm clothes then fell asleep on
the car ride home.
I know you all love the cold but that was crazy.
