yellow stone the trip to a stronger testomony

Yellowstone was fun with the hiking and all, but the greatest adventure was right around the campfire.  We had family home evening on Friday. My grandma and grandpa took a vacation from their mission and they challenged us to read The Book of Mormon by the end of the year. Except my goal is to read it by my birthday, November 6th. They challenged me to read it by January so I am not just going read I am going to make it challenging. Also my grandpa told us to read the last two paragraphs of the introduction well by accident I read four and in there Joseph Smith said this book is the most true book in the world and I believe that the book of Mormon is the most true book in the world and that is the day my testimony grew.

A New Sheriff in Town

Our family visited Yellowstone, and  all my cousins, aunts, uncles and my grandma and grandpa were there. The first day camping was awesome! It all started when my cousin Adam and I were trying to be like cops and this is when the awesomeness happened.  We gathered together and my grandma said we need someone to make the rules, someone to help in need, like a cop.  Then it hit me, I should be the Sheriff,  but I had no choice, my grandma choose all the youngest of each family, and I was the youngest.  So, she said "you guys go over there and choose who's going to be the Sheriff."  They choose me. I was taking it very seriously, but sometimes I could have some fun. I gave tickets to people that were being bad. My partner, Andy, he was the first person to get in jail because he got four tickets, so I fired him for a day. We also went  lots of  hikes, we played, we made s'mores and had a lot of fun. But the time had come we all left and got ready for the other trips that they had planned for another time.

but I am go to miss the pope family they are really nice, funny, playful and fun to be a round

My Pope Family

This week my Pope family and I went to Wyoming, Yellowstone . We camped for three nights and it was super fun. I love all of my wonderful cousins that came. I love their company and laughter. I love how bad a situation can be no one will complain and we will all laugh about it. On the first day we were there, we went river rafting. It was super fun! I was so scared. I thought if you fell out that it would be the end of your days . In the boat, I was sitting next to Lilli, my cousin, and Everett, my brother, They are probably the two people I can trust the most in the whole world. So I told them if I fall out of the boat it's their fault because they didn't catch me.
Grandpa was on the land, he was just smiling and being happy even though he spent like 1000 dollars for us to go and he did not want to go. I love my grandpa and grandma so much they are such great people who are setting a awesome example by going on a mission . The second day of being there we went on a hike to a waterfall where there was a little pond of water that was like three inches deep but if you walked all the way back there was a deep section where Christian, Sunni, Porter, and Kesley swam.  Lilli and I would of have but I did not have a swim suit on and it was really super cold.
Most of my cousins are brave and can make cool things like when we go to lake Powell together we make zip lines, and slack lines. They have problems, but they work fine and they are fun to use. The third day we went on another hike to the great canyon of Yellowstone well that was a fun hike because if you go to the right enough you would see a long drop and I kept going on the edge and looking down and every cousin that was on the hike would say, "stop it you are going to slip and die! Don't go so close to the edge!" and I would keep going to the edge and looking down because I loved to know that they cared about me and that if I did die they would care .In the canyon was a big waterfall it was super cool.
That night grandpa gave us a lesson about the scriptures and that we should read them every day and he gave us all the scriptures and said if we finished them by January he would take us on a trip to Hawaii but because we are going to be in Africa by then our family is going somewhere else. I am going to be sad when I leave my Pope family but Africa is going to be fun.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

This was my class the last two years, almost the same kids for two years in a row. We are all going to different classes next year, most will be in the same school, but I will be in a school in another country.

This coming year could be the most challenging years of my life, but it could also be the best experience in my life. Honest to truth I am really going to miss these guys, and I hope I will be able to see theme again. I hope to connect with some of them through the internet if possible. I'll be on a whole different continent as them and who knows how long it will be. But now I start my adventure.   Like the school in Kenya. The school we are going to has tennis courts a pool and a great education. I will be given an opportunity to have a great education in Africa that no kid in the USA has but me. I will meet new friends I will keep looking forward to the future. Porter Fairbourne

Our Happy Home On The Hill

Hi, my name is Alta Christine Fairbourne me and my family are leaving our home in Hobble Creek Canyon to start a new adventure in Africa, Kenya . We all are going to miss our home so much we built it in 2006, we lived in it till 2013 (seven years) .

In our backyard we had a slackline that we loved to be on. I remember when we put one up at my grandmas house across her pond , when my cousin Christian went on it, he fell he landed on the slackline on his belly and then fell in the water .

We also had a tramp in our backyard that is where me and my brothers would play and make movies and sometimes we even slept there. I remember when my little brother Everett was on top the logs by our tramp and he was going to jump off of them , he started to run so he could go farther but before
he jumped he slipped and fell of the logs on the ground and jabbed his side into a rock. It was not bleeding but his shirt was ripped. It scared me so much cause he was crying bloody murder. By our tramp was a small tree house that we bought when we moved in I don't remember much about that tree house but what I do remember is that when I took off the slide and brought it inside and then my dad put it up again but this time in our climbing room . In our climbing room well there was a rock climbing wall were we all made our own routes to climb on. I remember me being the best at it but that's what I remember . Above the rock climbing wall were screws and on those screws dangled two pull-up bars and  me and my brothers used them as swings we would put our legs in them and twirl in a circle. Above the climbing room was the main level where the kitchen was and where the living room was and my parents room. I remember the cold dark nights of winter when we would huddle bye the fire and say family prayers before we went to bed , whenever you were in our house you would feel peace and happiness . Every Sunday our family would come up to our house for dinner we all would call it Sunday dinner which is mashed potatoes, gravy, meat, broccoli, corn, fruit, salad, green beans, and sometimes we would have chicken instead of meat if my dad was out of town. I remember when great grandpa would be there and he all ways smiled and never complained. I remember great grandma listening to the conversations and didn't know what they were talking about , it was the perfect place for dinner and everyone enjoyed coming . Upstairs is where my room was and my brothers rooms were. There was a deck up there also we would always sleep there we would make a bed out there and sleep there for like a week in a row. I remember the nights when it started to rain and as a team we would take all of the wet blankets and pads inside to dry. Some people say, "well why are you moving away from this beautiful home with all your memories inside?" Well I say I don't know why but its going to be a fun adventure even if we don't find a home as good as this one . Leaving our happy home on the hill is really hard for me but I am going to have to put it aside and look on the bright side WERE MOVING TO AFRICA BABY! I love this home so dearly my final words are good bye home
